Who is Tui?

Household name Tui is probably best known for its beach and poolside packages. It offers holidays to more than 80 destinations in 30 countries worldwide, often on its own airline. It is one of the few tour operators on our list that still has a presence on many UK high streets.

Which? verdict

While it doesn’t score especially badly, Tui fails to measure up against its rivals, landing in the bottom half of the tables it appears in. We’d recommend booking with its biggest rival, Jet2Holidays, which has similar prices, but much better ratings.

What’s a Tui holiday like?

You would hope that a company with more than 100 years' experience would be at the top of its game, but with Tui that doesn’t seem to be the case. It fell some way short of its competitors in our survey, finishing in the bottom half of all seven tables it featured in.

One of the reasons for Tui’s position in our tables is its mediocre three-star rating for accommodation across the board, with several readers complaining about ‘poor’ bedrooms. One customer said they ‘had several faults with the room that were slow to be resolved’.

They were more positive about how ‘well organised’ its holidays were. It received a four-star rating in the organisation category for its beach/resort holidays, all-inclusive holidays and escorted-tour offerings. One holidaymaker went as far as to describe the organisation of their holiday as ‘impeccable’, adding that ‘everything went smoothly’.

At £119pp per night on average for short-haul trips, Tui is just about cheaper than the average firm in our survey, but it rarely excelled on value for money, scoring just two stars in this category for its all-inclusive holidays.

For the same price on average, rival Jet2Holidays received a higher customer score in all five holiday categories they shared.

Should I book a holiday with Tui?

No. Tui was in the bottom half of all seven tables it featured in, meaning that there are plenty of better alternatives to go with, no matter which type of holiday you want to book.
