Who is Ramble Worldwide?

Formerly known as Ramblers Walking Holidays, Ramble Worldwide offers more than 200 small-group walking holidays in the UK, Europe and around the world, hosted by expert tour leaders. Ramble Worldwide operates with a charitable ethos, channelling profits via the Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust into organisations that promote access to, and protect, the great outdoors.

Which? verdict

While Ramble Worldwide provides a very well-organised escorted tour and its charitable goals are admirable, there were other walking-holiday options in this year’s survey that were better rated.

What’s a Ramble Worldwide holiday like?

Ramble Worldwide’s walks cover six continents and its itineraries include a wide range of skill levels, from lowland ambles to high mountain trekking.

Customers gave its escorted tours five stars overall and many told us they return year after year. One reader said: ‘You are always very well looked after’; another told us they ‘always provide the kind of holiday I am looking for’.

Ramble Worldwide also received a decent customer score of 78%, but with so many excellent escorted tour companies in the table this year, that still left it in the bottom half.

Where it fell down was on its accommodation and food and drink ratings, both of which were a middling three stars. One disappointed holidaymaker told us: ‘The hotel food was poor, at times inedible’, while another said there were plumbing issues at their hotel.

There were very few complaints when it came to organisation, and Ramble Worldwide got the perfect five-star rating in this category. Several readers let us know they were happy with the ‘always very well organised’ tours. One was relieved to have an easy, stress-free experience, because the ‘excellent’ leaders always ‘sort everything’.

Should I book a holiday with Ramble Worldwide?

Ramble Worldwide provides well organised escorted tours, but it was outperformed by other providers, including walking competitor and Which? Recommended Provider HF Holidays.
