Which? verdict
Saga is highly rated, and we received plenty of praise from loyal customers about its holidays. It's a Which? Recommended Provider for city breaks and coach holidays, and it also performs well in other categories.
Customer score Based on a combination of overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the company. For escorted tours and cultural tours: In an online survey in August/September 2024, we asked 12,119 Which? Connect panel members and members of the public about 19,958 holidays from the past two years. For rail holiday companies: In February/March 2026 we asked 943 Which? Connect panel members and members of the public who have been on 1,336 package rail holidays in the UK or abroad in the past three years (i.e. since February 2023). For coach holiday companies: in February/March 2026 we asked 1,382 Which? Connect panel members and members of the public who have been on 1,835 package coach holidays in the UK or abroad in the past three years (i.e. since February 2023).
Saga is a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP) for both city breaks and coach holidays. Readers had glowing praise for its ‘excellent’ getaways, with one saying ‘everything went extremely well’ and another claiming ‘the vibe was always positive’.
It received impressive four-star, and in some cases five-star ratings for how well the online description of the holiday matched the true experience in all nine holiday categories it was featured in. The ‘as described’ trips were frequently commended by customers, with one saying Saga 'worked hard to deliver what it had promised’. One coach holidaymaker added: 'They took the hassle out of everything and we could just relax and enjoy it.'
Saga also scored well in a number of other categories, including cultural tours and tailor-made holidays, where it also got four-star ratings across the board. Its lowest-scoring result came in the beach/resort holiday, where it scored a decent but underwhelming 72% customer score – ranking 23rd out of 30 in our table.
Saga's refund, cancellation and surcharge policy
Saga is a WRP. This means that as well as being one of highest-rated holiday firms in our survey, it has also guaranteed to offer a full refund, or free changes, if the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office changes its advice about your destination.
It has also promised that in 2025, it won’t apply any additional surcharges to holidays that have already been booked.
Should I book a holiday with Saga?
For city breaks and coach holidays, Saga offers reliable, well-organised holidays, and is a Which? Recommended Provider. It also received an excellent score for cultural tours and rail holidays.
For other holidays, it may be worth looking for a better-performing alternative, such as Kuoni for beach holidays, or Jules Verne for escorted tours.
