Who is eDreams?

An online travel agent based in Spain, eDreams allows customers to mix and match flights and hotels to create your own package holiday. Together with its sister company, Opodo, it is owned by the eDreams Odigeo group, which is better-known across the rest of Europe than it is in the UK.

Which? verdict

This travel firm was the cheapest provider in our 2024 beach/resort holidays survey, but it also came at the bottom of our table, with poor two-star ratings across the board – including for the quality of its accommodation and customer service.

What's an eDreams holiday like?

This travel company finished at the bottom of our beach/resorts holiday table with a customer score of 63%. It scored only two stars in all available ratings.

Several holidaymakers complained about its customer service, saying that eDreams was difficult to get hold of – whether online or on the phone. It’s a complaint we have frequently heard about eDreams over the years. Given that millions of holidays are disrupted every year for all sorts of reasons, it's important to be able to easily get in touch with your provider.

It also received two stars for description matching reality. One dissatisfied respondent told us that their accommodation was in ‘terrible condition’ with ‘run-down’ rooms’.

But not everyone was dissatisfied. One respondent told us 'the package was exactly as discussed and I enjoyed every moment'. Another told us 'it was a fantastic holiday and the booking was simple and easy'.

The company did provide the cheapest average short-haul price in our beach/resort holiday survey, at just £92pp per night. However, the value for money rating for eDreams was just two stars. One customer said: ‘For the price I paid, I expected much better.’

What did eDreams say?

An eDreams spokesperson said the company does not provide pre-packaged holidays and argued this makes the comparison irrelevant and misleading by nature. They disputed the methodology and sample sizes in the research. They highlighted that they have asked the Market Research Society (MRS) to investigate a previous Which? report over sample sizes used. Which? stands by its research in that case and is assisting the MRS with its investigation.

Should I book a holiday with eDreams?

In our opinion, no. It may be the cheapest beach/resort holiday provider in our rankings, but eDreams also came bottom of the table. There are plenty of better-rated operators to choose from in our survey, for a few pounds more.
