What's Exodus Adventure Travels like?
With more than 50 years in the industry, Exodus Adventure Travels hosts 500 itineraries across 90 countries and still manages to thoroughly impress. It received the highest customer score in our adventure/activity holiday company survey at 92%, and a strong 82% for its escorted tours in a separate survey, placing it fifth in our table of 25 providers.
Exodus offers lots of different activity holidays but specialises in walking and cycling trips. Customers raved about its impeccable customer service and liked how they were made to feel welcome and comfortable on their tours. Exodus received a perfect five-star rating for its overall escorted tour experience. Several readers mentioned that part of the reason was its small-group policy, which made the holidays more personal. Another reason is the ‘great’ local guides Exodus uses. One customer told us the guides were knowledgeable, knew the area well and had a well-planned itinerary.
Costing £180pp per night on average for short-haul trips, it’s by no means the cheapest escorted-tour provider in our table. However, readers clearly felt the price was worth it, illustrated by a good four-star rating for value for money.
Readers were also impressed with the company's eco-credentials. Exodus suggests low-carbon alternatives where possible, such as the option to swap planes for trains on many of its European trips.
If there’s a negative, it’s probably the three-star rating for accommodation, but many customers told us they felt this was more to do with the types of tour they had chosen, and that they weren’t expecting luxury. One told us: ‘A comfortable bed is all I want and Exodus always provides that.’
Exodus Adventure Travels refund, cancellation and surcharge policy
Exodus Adventure Travels is a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP) in both our escorted tours and adventure/activity categories, which means that, as well as being one of the most highly rated holiday firms in both surveys, it guarantees to offer a full refund, or free changes, if the Foreign Office (FCDO) changes its advice about your destination.
Exodus has also promised that in 2026 it won’t apply any additional surcharges to holidays that have already been booked.
