Who is On the Beach?

Online travel agent On the Beach is one of the UK’s biggest holiday companies. It specialises in fly-and-flop holidays to Europe, but also sells long-haul getaways to the Caribbean.

Which? verdict

On the Beach has some of the cheapest package holidays on sale, but with poor ratings for value for money and customer service, you should book with someone else. Jet2 is almost as cheap, and a far better holiday company.

What's an On the Beach holiday like?

On the Beach offers a low-cost beach holiday. Very few companies beat the average price per night of £101pp, our survey found, but unfortunately it also received a poor two-star value-for-money rating. One dissatisfied customer said that, ‘once they have your money, they are no longer interested in you’.

Its customer scores of 71%-72% are consistent, albeit underwhelming, and it ranks in the bottom half of all three tables it features in. A major reason for this was customer service – customers gave On the Beach just two stars in all three holiday categories, with several customers specifically mentioning a ‘lack of communication’.

Readers also regularly told us about the ‘very basic’ accommodation (also two stars across the board). One even said: ‘The hotel was the worst I’ve ever stayed in.’

Should I book a holiday with On the Beach?

No. Despite its relatively low prices, customers told us the holidays offered poor value for money. We recommend spending slightly more to go with a Which? Recommended Provider like Jet2Holidays.
