Who is Secret Escapes?

Secret Escapes is best known for its deals, negotiating reduced rates for luxury hotels and holidays in the UK and abroad. But it is also a package holiday provider in its own right, and sells holidays with discounted prices through its website and app to those with a free email membership.

Which? verdict

Secret Escapes provides good city break holidays that match what is described online, but customer service wasn’t brilliant. Ultimately, there are several holiday companies rated better in our survey.

What's a Secret Escapes holiday like?

Secret Escapes received a mixed bag of ratings in the two tables it appeared in in our survey. It scored 78% for city breaks, ranking sixth out of 18 providers. One holidaymaker told us they were impressed by the ‘huge selection of places at a reasonable price that you could go to’ on the ‘extremely appealing and inviting’ website.

However, its 75% customer score for beach/resort holidays was only enough to place it 18th out of 30 in that category.

Its customer service was also a bit hit and miss, scoring four out of five stars in beach/resort holidays, but a worrying two stars for city breaks. A customer noted ‘when asking questions they did not want to reply or provide answers’.

Nevertheless Secret Escapes received a solid four-star rating in both categories for ‘description matching reality’.

Should I book a holiday with Secret Escapes?

While Secret Escapes offers decent city breaks, there are better, more consistent providers further up the table – including Which? Recommended Providers Trailfinders and Jet2Holidays.
