Which? verdict
With an excellent customer score and five stars out of five for customer service, Travel Counsellors is an excellent option for bespoke trips, although Audley Travel and Trailfinders were rated higher in our survey.

What’s a Travel Counsellors holiday like?
Travel Counsellors is a bit different to the other providers in our survey. You won’t find any holidays on its website, because it only sells bespoke breaks according to your specific requirements. Nor will you find a general booking phone number. Instead you can choose someone nearby from its national network of more than 2,000 independent advisers, each with their own experience and specialist areas.
Your personal counsellor runs their own business as an independent travel adviser. They then work with you until you’ve got every detail of your holiday itinerary right. This personal touch impressed respondents, who commented on agents’ ‘knowledge and experience of the areas we wanted to go to and the quick response times, both before and during the holiday’. It received five stars out of five for customer service.
Travel Counsellors is the third best-rated company in our tailor-made holiday providers table. Unfortunately, it’s not a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP) as it didn’t confirm that its policies met our requirements regarding refunds and not applying surcharges.
If you would prefer to book with a WRP, Trailfinders, Audley Travel, Kuoni, Travelbag and Jet2 Holidays all met our requirements for tailor-made trips.
Should I book a holiday with Travel Counsellors?
Yes, if you find a local agent that you’re happy with and trust. However, Trailfinders and Audley Travel were both rated higher in our survey of tailor-made package holiday providers.
