Insurancewith is a specialist at covering customers with pre-existing medical conditions.
You'll need to go through a medical screening process when applying for cover, declaring your conditions, how they're treated and how stable they are. The insurer will then decide whether it can cover your conditions and if it will affect the price.
Insurancewith works with a medical screening company called Protectif to ask customers about their medical conditions.
Depending on your specific medical history, you may find it tricky to obtain affordable cover or it might barely make a difference. For advice on how to get the best cover and prices, see our guide on travel insurance if you have a medical condition.
The latest data from the Financial Conduct Authority shows that Astrenska – Insurewith's underwriter – paid 90% to 95% of claims made on European annual policies in 2023, which is above the average of 82.20%.
The insurer accepted 85% to 90% of claims on worldwide policies, which is better than the average of 78.90%.
It also accepted 85% to 90% of claims made on single-trip policies, again beating the average of 80.40%.

Insurers will usually expect you to try recouping lost costs (such as deposits) elsewhere before claiming with them – for example, checking with the travel provider if you're entitled to a refund or can move a cancelled trip. However, you can still call the insurer to let it know if there's a chance you'll need to claim.
You'll need to provide your policy number when you make a claim.
