If you have a pre-existing medical condition, the Co-op may cover this on your travel insurance, but you'll need to declare it when you buy the policy.
The Co-op works with a medical screening company called Verisk to ask customers about their medical conditions.
It isn't a specialist provider for customers with pre-existing medical conditions, but this doesn't necessarily mean it won't be able to cover your medical condition at a reasonable price.
However, if you are struggling to obtain cover, check our guide on travel insurance if you have a medical condition.
The latest published data from the Financial Conduct Authority shows that All Clear (which provides Co-op Insurance) paid 90-95% of claims made on annual worldwide and annual European policies, and 85-90% of claims made on single-trip policies in 2023.
These were higher than the industry average acceptance rates of 82.20%, 78.90% and 80.40%, respectively.

For other claims, the number to call depends on your policy.
Insurers will usually expect you to try recouping lost costs (such as deposits) elsewhere before claiming with them – for example checking with the travel provider if you're entitled to a refund or can move a cancelled trip. However, you can still call the insurer to let them know if there's a chance you will need to claim.
