'What you need to know about Covered2Go's policies'

Dean Sobers, Which? travel insurance expert, says:

I've been analysing Covered2Go's extensive range of policies for a decade.

If you're a Which? member you can log in (or if not, sign up) to read my explanation of their strengths and weaknesses.

Is Covered2Go good if you have a medical condition?

Like most policies, Covered2Go will consider covering you if you have a pre-existing medical condition.

You're able to declare your medical history when applying for cover. Depending on the type, severity and stability of any conditions you have, these may be excluded from cover, or added either with or without an extra cost to your premium.

Covered2Go isn't a specialist provider for customers with pre-existing medical conditions, but this doesn't mean it can't cover your medical condition at a reasonable price.

However, if you're struggling to obtain cover, check our guide on travel insurance if you have a medical condition.

How good is Covered2Go at handling claims?

Covered2Go uses a company called Claims Settlement Agencies Limited to handle claims.

Covered2Go's underwriter, Millstream Underwriting, operates on behalf of AWP Assistance UK Limited.

  • The latest data from the Financial Conduct Authority shows that AWP Assistance UK Limited accepted 90-95% of claims on annual European policies – that's higher than the industry average of 86.3%.
  • It paid 90-95% of claims on annual worldwide policies, above the average of 84.5%
  • It accepted 85-90% of claims on single trip policies, better than the average of 80%

Covered2Go's travel insurance: how can I claim?

To make a claim by phone or call for medical assistance, call +44 (0)330 660 0785.

You can also make a claim online.

Insurers will usually expect you to try recouping lost costs (such as deposits) elsewhere before claiming with them – for example, checking with the travel provider if you're entitled to a refund or can move a cancelled trip. However, you can still call the insurer to let it know if there's a chance you'll need to claim.

You'll need to provide your policy number when you call.
