If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you'll need to declare it when you buy your cover, which may result in a higher premium.
The medical screening process is overseen by a company called Protectif.
Holidaysafe isn't a specialist provider for customers with pre-existing medical conditions, but this doesn't necessarily mean it won't be able to cover your medical condition at a reasonable price.

The latest data from the Financial Conduct Authority shows that Holidaysafe's underwriter, Astrenska, paid out 90-95% of claims made on annual European policies in 2023, which is above the industry average of 82.20%.
With annual worldwide and single-trip policies, it paid 85-90% of claims. That's better than the averages of 78.90% and 80.40%, respectively.

Insurers will usually expect you to try recouping lost costs (such as deposits) elsewhere before claiming with them – for example, checking with the travel provider if you're entitled to a refund or can move a cancelled trip. However, you can still call the insurer to let them know if there's a chance you will need to claim.
