Is Flexicover good if you have a medical condition?

If you have a pre-existing medical condition, Flexicover may be able to cover it. To find out if it can and how it will affect the premium, you'll need to declare the condition when you run your quote.

Flexicover works with a medical screening company, Verisk, to ask customers about their medical conditions.    

Flexicover isn't a specialist provider for customers with pre-existing medical conditions – but this doesn't mean it can't cover your medical condition at a reasonable price.

How good is Flexicover at handling claims?

Flexicover's claims are handled by Collinson Claims – connected to Collinson Insurance, which underwrites the policy. Collinson Insurance is a trading name of Astrenska Insurance Limited.

• According to the most recently published FCA data, Flexicover's underwriter Astrenska paid 90-95% of claims on annual European policies in 2024. This was a higher acceptance rate than the average of 86.30%.
• It paid 90-95% of worldwide annual claims – again, better than the 84.50% average.
• And it accepted 85-90% of single-trip claims. The average here was 80%.

Flexicover's travel insurance: how can I claim?

To make other types of claim, call 0333 005 1073. You can also start a claim online

Insurers will usually expect you to try to recoup lost costs (such as deposits) elsewhere before claiming with them – for example, checking with the travel provider if you're entitled to a refund or can move a cancelled trip. However, you can still call the insurer to let it know if there's a chance you will need to claim.

You'll need to provide your policy number when you call.
