'A Best Buy policy with some rare features'

Dean Sobers, Which? travel insurance expert, says:

Dean Sobers

Infinity's top level of cover – Gold – made the grade as a Best Buy.

Among the things we liked about it were low excesses (£30) and high levels of cancellation cover – £10,000.

However, its cancellation cover doesn't extend to needing to abort your trip because of the outbreak of infectious disease in the area. And its medical cover (£10m) only goes as far as treating pain relief should you have a dental emergency.

Days per trip

If you have annual cover, for UK and European travel, you're covered for up to 61 days per trip. On worldwide policies, you're covered for 61 days per trip if you're aged 65 or under, and 31 days if older (with the maximum age being 79).

Single-trip policies cover trips of up to 186 days in the UK and Europe, and 45 days per trip worldwide.

Terrorism cover

If a terrorist attack is made within 20km of your destination (within 14 days of your planned departure date) and the area is considered unsafe by local or national authorities, you can make a cancellation claim on Infinity's policies.

This is fairly rare: some 61% of policies we reviewed excluded terrorism altogether.

Silver and Bronze cover

Infinity's Silver policy came close to our Best Buy cutoff (64%) with a score of 63%. It sits in the middle of our table.

Bronze, meanwhile, was in the lower range of policies we examined, with a score of 59%. This compares to an average score of 62%.

Is Just Travel Cover - Infinity travel insurance good if you have a medical condition?

Infinity is a specialist provider for covering customers with pre-existing medical conditions. This means it may be more likely to cover customers with conditions that other insurers would be less likely to take on.

However, if you have a medical condition, you should still look at a mixture of specialist and non-specialist providers

To add your conditions to the policy, you'll need to declare them when you take it out. Infinity works with a medical screening company called Verisk to ask customers about their medical conditions.

However, if you're struggling to get cover, see our guide on travel insurance if you have a medical condition.

How good is Just Travel Cover - Infinity at handling claims?

Infinity uses a company called Healix International to provide medical assistance. For other claims, it works with a firm called Sedgwick.

  • According to the most recently published data, Infinity's underwriter – Accelerant – accepted 90% to 95% of claims made on single-trip policies in 2024. This is higher than the market average of 80%.
  • Data wasn't available for its payout rates on annual policies.

How does Just Travel Cover - Infinity compare with other providers?

Just Travel Cover - Infinity scored 68% and was a Best Buy. Just ahead of it, with 69% were Axa's Gold policy, Cover For You's Platinum policy, Halifax's Ultimate Reward packaged bank account, Insure & Escape's First policy, Leisure Guard's Flexi Silver policy, and NatWest's Black account.

It was just ahead of Explorer's Level 5 policy,  InsureandGo's Black policy, Leisure Guard's Standard policy, NatWest's Silver and Platinum accounts, RBS' Silver and Platinum accounts, Tesco's Standard policy, and Travel Insurance Saver's Silver policy. These scored 67%.

Should you buy Just Travel Cover - Infinity's travel insurance?

Yes, if the price is right. The Gold policy was a reasonable Best Buy, and the Infinity range had some unusual cover features, making them worth a look.
