How good is EE mobile coverage?

EE offers 2G, 4G and 5G coverage, having switched off its 3G network.

You can check the quality of the network where you live using our mobile network coverage map. Simply enter your postcode into a map and it will tell you how good the EE signal is in your area, as well as comparing it with the other providers.

EE deals and incentives

EE offers a range of plans, including Sim-only options and those with a supplied handset. 

Families can also make use of EE shared plans, where up to five different devices can be added to one inclusive plan. This also comes with a discount of up to 20%. 

EE offers a range of incentives, although customers we surveyed told us they were unimpressed by what was on offer. If you take out a Full Works or Smart plan for phone or Sim, you can access one of a range of Smart Benefits. These include:

• Amazon Prime Video
• Apple Arcade (for iPhones only)
• Apple Music
• Apple TV+ (for iPhones only)
• BritBox
• BT Sport Ultimate
• Roam Further Pass (which lets you use your allowance in more destinations)
• Video Data Pass (which lets you watch video content on Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, BT Sport, Netflix, MTV Play and YouTube, without eating into your data).

Meanwhile, pay-as-you-go (PAYG) customers can top up their phones and then use the credit to buy the most appropriate pack with its inclusive allowance of minutes, texts or data. EE adds a new pack automatically every seven or 30 days, and takes the cost from your credit. It also offers free data boosts every three months if you continue to buy its PAYG packs.

Does EE mobile increase its prices each year?

Yes. New and existing customers who started a contract after 10 April 2024 will face an annual increase of £2.50 a month to Sim-only contracts, and £4 a month to bundled contracts (where the cost of the phone and Sim-only isn't separated).

Contracts that started before 10 April 2024 will see inflation-based annual increases using the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of inflation, plus 3.9%.

Does EE mobile include free data roaming?

No, EE mobile does not include free EU roaming as standard. 

If you have a 'Roaming Inclusive Extra' or 'Full Works Plan' then EU roaming is free, but these plans cost extra. Otherwise, you have to buy a roaming pass to use your data in the EU. This costs £2.59 a day, £15 for seven days or £21.50 for 12 days. 

However, always check to see if the country you’re travelling to is covered before you leave. Countries you might expect to be included may not be. Use the EE roaming rate finder to see how much roaming might cost.

EE is one of the biggest phone providers and has more than 500 shops in the UK, meaning it's easy to get help and advice.

BT Mobile

BT Mobile stopped accepting new customers in October 2023 and now only offers EE deals.
