What is Enterprise?

Enterprise Rent-a-Car operates more than 9,500 worldwide branches in more than 90 countries, but is particularly popular in the UK. With a fleet of 2 million vehicles, it claims to have branches and vehicles within 10 miles of 93% of the UK population.

Which? verdict

While its overall score is good, the two-star rating on clarity of rental conditions is a concern.

Overall score is a combination of the customer score (overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the company) and our own expert analysis. Survey carried out in Feb/March 2026.

What's Enterprise like?

With a modern fleet of cars and decent customer service, Enterprise is in the top half of our table. Customers praised the ‘polite and helpful staff’ as well as the ‘easy booking process’.

However, it performed disappointingly in our expert assessment of the clarity of its rental conditions. Additional driver charges and the fuel policy were not always clearly presented, nor was it always transparent as to whether a deposit was required and how much you would need to leave. In short, it’s not always clear how much the final bill will be.

Several customers had problems with extra charges. One told us: ‘They added additional charges to my bill without letting me know’, while others said that they had been charged for damage that they didn’t believe they had caused.

Nevertheless, Enterprise scored a good four-star rating on value for money, and that’s despite the relatively high daily rate of £60. Customers with AA membership receive a discount on car hire with both Enterprise and Alamo.

Should I book with Enterprise?

Enterprise is well rated by customers, with four-star scores on value for money and customer service. However, we found issues with the clarity of its rental conditions. For UK rentals, Which? Recommended Provider Arnold Clark is a better-rated option.
