Cicar (Canary Islands Car), is a budget car rental service operating on the Canary Islands, with a fleet of more than 12,000 vehicles at its disposal. It also offers car rentals in mainland Spain, but these are organised through a partner with different T&Cs attached.

What's Cicar like?
The two best car hire companies in our survey compete for your custom on the Canaries. Cicar has an excellent 91% customer score and was only just beaten by local competitor AutoReisen. Both are regulars at the top of our table, and one customer told us that Cicar ‘sets a standard for a relaxing car hire experience that I have never experienced with any other provider’.
In total, Cicar received the top five-star rating in six categories. Zero-excess insurance and a second driver come as standard which is part of the reason why Cicar scored full marks for its clarity of extra charges and final hire cost. One customer told us they were pleased that Cicar gave them ‘no hard sells on extra coverage and no hassle when returning'.
The quality of cars is exceptional as well, with Cicar scoring five stars for the age, condition and mileage of its cars as well as how the description of them matched reality. Many customers were happy not to be met with any surprises at collection, with one saying their rental was ‘as requested’ and another told us their experience was ‘faultless from start to finish'.
