What's Cicar like?
The two best car hire companies in our survey both compete for your custom in the Canary Islands. Cicar has an excellent 85% customer score, but it was beaten by local competitor AutoReisen with a score of 93%.
Both are regulars at the top of our table, and one customer told us that Cicar is ‘completely no-nonsense, straightforward and upfront. There’s never any hassle’.
In total, Cicar received the top five-star rating in six categories. Zero-excess insurance and a second driver come as standard (in the Canary Islands), which is part of the reason why Cicar scored full marks for its additional charges and final hire cost.
The customer service is exceptional as well, with Cicar scoring five stars in this category. One customer described their experience: ‘The Cicar office in Lanzarote gave us a very reasonable quote. The price was all inclusive, with no added insurance or additional driver costs, and there was no quibble about our ages (76 and 86). It was so simple!’
Cicar is not a Which? Recommended Provider because it applies different terms and conditions in mainland Spain. These are less consumer-friendly and transparent. For example, customers have to search through the T&Cs to find the deposit amount and fuel policy.
Should I book with Cicar?
Yes, for the Canary Islands – Cicar offers an easy car rental experience at a great price. But be more wary about using Cicar in mainland Spain.
