What’s Alamo like?
Although Alamo offers car rental worldwide, if you book a rental in Europe, you are likely to be handled by the lower-scoring sister brand Enterprise. That’s why we recommend Alamo in the USA, where it is one of the biggest rental brands, and readers were impressed by its ‘modern, clean cars’, ‘minimal hard sell upgrades’, and the ‘quick return and common sense attitude towards return condition’.
While it only scored three stars for collection speed, those who used the ‘skip the counter’ service (available in the USA/Canada) were impressed: ‘no-one tries to sell you anything. You can go straight to the garage, select the car you want, then drive to the exit where you simply show your driving licence and credit card.'
