Overall score is a combination of the customer score (overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the company) and our own expert analysis. Survey carried out in Feb/March 2026.

What's Zest Car Rental like?

Zest works with car hire providers in over 90 countries – some big and some tiny. In our expert checks, we could always find deposit details, fuel policies and all possible additional charges clearly presented on the comparison page of Zest’s website, making it far easier to make an informed choice at the best price.

Zest continuously monitors the providers it works with. If customer ratings fall, and a rental company fails to make improvements, then it will simply be removed from the website.

And should you experience a problem during your holiday, Zest’s five-star customer service means there’s always someone on the end of a phone to help you resolve it quickly, and in English.

One customer’s comment emphasised how invaluable Zest’s support can be: ‘When I missed a flight connection, I contacted Zest and their staff reorganised my car hire at Porto airport. On another occasion, I damaged an alloy in France but wasn’t given an invoice, which was needed to make a claim. Zest managed to get the necessary paperwork and even provided assistance with the insurer's web portal.’

Add to this the very reasonable rates of £27 per day, on average, which includes insurance, free cancellation and often a second driver (depending on location), and you can see why so many customers raved about them in our survey.

One customer told us: 'Zest is a first class company with excellent clarity and competitive pricing. Their cancellation policy is excellent, the customer service is excellent – I wouldn’t use anyone else.’

Should I book with Zest Car Rental?

Yes. It’s a great-value service, with a raft of five-star ratings, and it’s the the only car hire broker to ever be a Which? Recommended Provider.
