Latvian platform Discovercars.com has grown rapidly over the past decade to become one of the biggest car hire brokers. It operates in more than 160 countries worldwide.
Discovercar’s two-star rating (out of five) for satisfaction with the car hire companies it lists is poor. You should look elsewhere for car rental.

| Car hire broker | Which? Recommended Provider? | Overall score |
| Discovercars.com | No | 74% |
Overall score is a combination of the customer score (overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the company) and our own expert analysis. Survey carried out in Feb/March 2026.
Most customers told us that they’d had a good experience with Discovercars.com and it received a reasonable overall score of 74%. It also scored well – the maximum five stars – for its clear additional charges.
However, the two-star rating for the car hire companies it uses is a significant drawback. One customer told us: ‘The company that discovercars.com provided was a hard-sell bunch of cowboys’. Other customers told us that the cars were old, or had issues: ‘The car had an engine problem. We had to hang around for two hours while they found an alternative. This car was not of a good standard and made driving a more stressful experience than necessary’.
Looking at the list of 700+ car hire companies that Discovercars.com works with, they should be more discerning. It works with Goldcar, for example, which is the lowest-scoring provider in our survey for more than a decade. This explains the two-star rating for ‘satisfaction with car hire provider’.
We are also concerned about the insurance it sells. It received a poor policy score in our analysis of the Best car hire insurance 2026.
No. It’s cheap, but it partners with some very poor providers. There are better car hire brokers out there, such as Zest Car Rental.
