What's Expedia like?
With a customer score of 71%, most customers were happy with their car hire experience with Expedia. However, it still only lands in fifth place out of the seven brokers we compared, so there are better options to choose from.
It received just three stars for overall satisfaction with the car provider, suggesting that some of the providers Expedia books people with have issues.
One customer told us that they had to spend ‘hours on the phone’ looking for a solution, after their travel was disrupted by winter storms. They labelled it ‘the worst rental experience I’ve ever had’.
Nevertheless, Expedia scored four stars for the clarity of its fuel policy, with a customer telling us that they found the policies to be ‘very clear’ and that the ‘bookings are reliable’.
Should I book with Expedia?
Expedia offers a reasonable service with a wide range of vehicles and providers, but the three star-rating for clarity of the final hire cost is a concern. Which? Recommended Provider Zest Car Rental is a safer option.
When you might consider taking out car hire with Expedia is if you're also booking flights at the same time, as this will protect your holiday under the package travel regulations.
