Who is Noble Caledonia?

Interesting itineraries and intimate ships are the big draws for Noble Caledonia customers. Launched in 1991, the luxury brand operates some of the smallest cruise ships on the high seas – calling at lesser-visited ports at destinations, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, and Japan to Costa Rica.

What’s a Noble Caledonia holiday like?

Its biggest vessel sleeps around 150 passengers, meaning it’s about as far from a floating city as you can get: on-board entertainment comes in the form of lectures and lounge music rather than casinos and cabaret. But guests seemed to like it this way, with one praising the ‘very friendly convivial atmosphere’.

It was the only cruise line to clinch the full five stars for its excursions, and most are included in the headline price – along with beer and wine at mealtimes. With a customer score of 83%, Hurtigruten offers a similar standard for less – but those initial savings could be wiped out once excursions and drinks are added to the final bill.

Should I book with Noble Caledonia?

A solid choice for those who favour exciting expeditions over black-tie balls.
