See how cruise line Cunard measures up against its rivals

Who is Cunard?

Cunard is a 180-year-old cruise line owned by Carnival Corporation, famous for its transatlantic crossings. Its 2,000-capacity ships are still named after British queens and sail from Southampton to New York, Norway and the Med.

 What’s a Cunard holiday like?

This luxury cruise line remains popular, thanks to its black-tie galas and afternoon tea served by white-gloved waiters. Your cabin grade even determines which restaurants you dine in. Guests enjoyed the good food and congenial atmosphere.

But some passengers felt Cunard didn’t live up to its upmarket reputation and were unhappy about uninspiring port excursions (two out of five stars), high drinks prices, service charges and $16 daily gratuities per person. One customer told us: 'A charge of over £100 was deducted from my credit card the day after boarding without notification. And there was a service charge on any drink bought during the voyage.'

Should I book with Cunard?

If you’re after big-ticket attractions and American-style entertainment, this is better than some rivals.
