[Garage/ trader address]

Dear

Reference: [registration number of vehicle]

On [date] I asked your service manager to repair the above vehicle as follows: [describe].

I was told this work would cost [£…..] but on collecting the vehicle, I was charged [£…..].

[Since we did not agree a fixed price for this work, by virtue of Section 51 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, I am legally obliged to pay only a reasonable price for the work.]

To ascertain a reasonable price, I asked two other garages, [names], to estimate the cost of the work.

They quoted [£….] and [£….], respectively [£….] and [£….] less than your final bill of [£……]

It is therefore clear that your final bill is unreasonable.

In accordance with my legal rights, I am prepared to pay only the sum of [£….], based on your original estimate and the two subsequent quotations obtained elsewhere, in full and final settlement.

Yours faithfully,
