What TV and broadband deals does Virgin Media offer?
Virgin's TV and broadband service is supplied through its cable network, so you need to live in a Virgin-cabled area to get it at home (although once you're signed up, you can also access it on the go over wi-fi – even abroad in the EU – via Virgin's TV Go app).
Virgin Media's service isn't as widely available as those that use the Openreach network, but its network is often faster, offering average broadband speeds up to 1,130Mbps.
You can take out separate TV, broadband and home phone deals, or bundle them all together, either by building your own package or opting for one of Virgin's own deals. It has six available bundles, five of which are similar – Bigger Combo, Bigger Combo + Movies, Bigger Combo + Sports, Biggest Combo, Mega Volt. These include average speeds ranging from up to 132Mbps to 1,130Mbps, and most include a set package of channels (ranging from 190 channels to 235).
The sixth package called Flex is a little different – it's a more basic rolling service you can add to your 18-month broadband contract. It comes with 150 channels, plus the ability to add or remove additional subscriptions each month for an extra fee.
Virgin Media offers a similar selection of TV channels to Sky TV. You can also add the likes of Sky Movies and Sports to your Virgin Media package for a fee, although you can't watch Sky Atlantic. Does Virgin Media put up TV and broadband prices every year?
Yes – Virgin Media started doing this in 2024. If you decide to sign up, keep in mind that it will raise the price of your deal every spring.
In January 2025, Virgin Media introduced a fixed-price increase. Now, if you take out a broadband deal with Virgin Media, it will increase the amount you pay by £3.50 each April.
If you took out a deal with Virgin Media before this, the amount you pay will go up in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation as published in February, plus an additional 3.9%. This means affected customers saw their price increase by 7.5% this year.
What equipment comes with Virgin Media TV and broadband?
Until relatively recently, Virgin has primarily offered its TV 360 box to customers. This is 4K ready and allows you to watch TV in multiple rooms for an extra fee. It also allows users to set profiles, so they can designate favourite channels and carry on watching shows where they left off.
However, since early 2025, it has been working to replace some of these with its Stream set top boxes instead (these are sometimes also called Flex'boxes, although Flex refers to a specific basic TV service offered by Virgin Media that's delivered via a Stream box). Stream boxes are being offered to new customers and existing customers wanting to set up a multi-room TV service.
Like the TV 360, the Stream box is 4K ready and multiple devices can be linked for multi-room services, although it doesn't record. It works using a broadband connection (rather than an aerial), so you can access previously aired shows via catch-up services.
