Patio cleaners that transform paving slabs in minutes

someone wearing protective clothing using pressure washer

A good patio cleaner should effortlessly tackle stubborn dirt, algae and black spots to leave paving looking noticeably brighter. To find the ones that genuinely deliver, our experts tested a range of popular picks, including bleach-based formulas and ‘eco-friendly’ alternatives.

To uncover the best for your budget, we tested the patio cleaners on a heavily soiled concrete patio that hasn't been cleaned for more than a decade. Our experts applied every product according to the instructions, then compared before-and-after results to see how well each one tackled ingrained grime, moss and lichen. We also assessed how easy they were to use and how long they took to work.

At the top of our results table was a cleaner that was a breeze to use, fast-acting and capable of providing a fantastic clean – we've awarded it a flawless Which? test score of 100%. Others were slower to act or struggled to fully remove tougher stains, sometimes leaving behind patches of grime or black spots even after treatment.

Of the patio cleaners tested recently, these were some of the best overall:

Washing-up liquids that cut through grease

Cleaning a bathroom

When you're battling a precarious pile of greasy plates, the right washing-up liquid can make all the difference and leave you with more time to get on with your day. To separate the best from the rest, we tested a selection of big-name brands, supermarket own-label liquids and a few powder alternatives.

We put 11 washing-up liquids and three washing-up powders through our tough lab tests using realistic kitchen mess, including fatty residues left behind from cooking. We looked at how well they cleaned in both cooler and warmer water, and tracked how many dishes could be washed before performance started to drop off.

The top performer in our testing was the best at removing fat from dishes, and it was good at dealing with tough baked-on grease, too. The foam lasted longer than any other brand, which means you can wash more dishes before needing to refill the bowl.

Of the washing-up liquids tested recently, these were some of the best overall:

Samsung's Galaxy S26 range reaches our test lab

Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone range has landed, taking aim at Apple’s iPhone 17 line-up and offering a premium alternative for Android fans. The Galaxy S26 is the most compact of the trio with its 6.2-inch display, while the Galaxy S26+ adds a larger 6.7-inch screen and a bigger battery.

At the top end, the Galaxy S26 Ultra brings a palm-stretching 6.9-inch display, plus extras such as a built-in S Pen (handy for scribbling down notes) and a titanium frame.

In our labs, every smartphone is pushed hard so you can see how it performs in the real world. We take photos in a range of lighting conditions, run the battery through a full day of typical use and check how smoothly it handles everyday tasks such as browsing and streaming. We also test durability, ease of use and security.

The table below reveals how these latest Samsung Galaxy models performed in our tests.

VPN connection screen on a laptop

To help you secure your personal data, we’ve tested a range of popular paid-for VPNs to see how easy they are to use, how much they affect internet speeds and how clear providers are about what they do with your data.

Our experts installed each VPN on a range of devices, including Windows, Mac, Android and iOS, and checked how they performed over several months. The top-scoring VPN stood out for fast connection speeds, a well-designed app and transparent data policies. It's highly recommended if you want to browse without unwanted snooping.
