Child benefit calculator
Find out how much you'll be paid in child benefit based on how many children you
have and you and your partner's earnings.

Child benefit is a monthly government payment for anyone who is responsible for a child. The more children you look after, the more you'll receive.
The benefit isn't strictly means-tested, but you will have to pay a 'high-income child benefit charge' if you or your partner earns more than £60,000 a year. The tax charge increases for every pound over £60,000 you earn, and if you earn over £80,000, will equal your full payment (meaning you have to pay it all back).
You can find out more in our guide to child benefit rates, including eligibility and how the high-income tax charge works.
