Starting off life under the Citroën brand flag, the French manufacturer now pushes the DS range as a marque in its own right. Revamped for 2015, the DS5 is available in petrol and diesel guises, as well as a four-wheel-drive hybrid. Like the previous model, it straddles established car classes, with a high-riding hatchback body style that aims to rival premium marques with its design flair and interior ambience.

Comfort and practicality includes how easy it is, or not, to get in and out of the car and the maximum height of occupants. We also measure road, wind and engine noise and assess how well the car deals with bumps from large potholes to jittery surfaces like cobble stones.
