UGREEN Nexode 30W fast charger

UGREEN USB-C fast charger

I bought this myself and it's brilliant – super compact, feels solid and good quality, and charges my phone faster than ever. Look out for discounts – it's often on sale for a little over £10.

Paul LesterWhich? technology content editor

We like Charges devices quickly

Watch out for Cable sold separately

This 30W USB-C charger from UGREEN is already compact, but the pins can fold in to make it even smaller. It's great for travel and charges devices quickly.

It makes a great little gift for those who need a small charger to stash in a bag. You'll also want to pick up a USB-C charging lead and include that too.

Steam gift card

Steam wallet card

As a teenager I would always wish for these so I could pick up indie games or put money towards a popular release. Steam has massive winter and summer sales – it's not uncommon to see hundreds of popular games or bundles available for under £10.

Lars StannardWhich? writer

We like Thousands of options and lots of seasonal sales

Watch out for Some popular games sell for £60 or more

It isn't always easy knowing which games to gift someone – or what titles they already own. Take the guesswork out of the equation and pick up a Steam gift card.

Your recipient can choose between thousands of games, and can get a refund within two weeks if they haven't played them for more than two hours.

If you want something a little more personal, try a Humble Choice subscription. It's like Xbox Game Pass – where they'll get a rotation of games each month – except your recipient will get to keep the games that come in each month's bundle.

Samsung 25W wireless battery pack

Samsung 25W wireless power bank

This power bank is a practical, thoughtful gift for anyone who’s always out and about or glued to their gadgets. It’s lightweight, easy to carry and the wireless charging makes it super convenient. If you’ve got a friend who’s always scrambling for an outlet, they’ll love having this reliable little lifesaver in their pocket.

Jonny MartinWhich? writer and researcher

We like Portable wireless charging

Watch out for Only has USB-C ports

This power bank is a tidy size (7 x 1.5 x 14.8cm), has a 10,000mAh capacity and supports wireless charging. If you're buying a gift for someone who often runs out of power on the go, this is especially handy as they don't need to bring a cable in order to charge things like their phone or earbuds.

There aren't any USB-A ports (the square ones) on this power bank. It comes with a short USB-C to USB-C cable – so while it's not necessary, it could be a nice gesture to include a longer cable.

You can read our full verdict in our round-up of the best portable power banks. Compare prices below:

Best tech gifts under £100

A good pair of wireless headphones

Sony headphones and earbuds

These headphones might not be in the glossy adverts, but they have solid features for their price. It’s best to check with the recipient what style they like, since retailers have restrictions on returns for hygiene reasons.

Amy AxworthyWhich? senior writer and researcher

We like Good sound without a crazy premium

Watch out for Read our reviews before buying

Good-sounding headphones always make a great gift, especially if you're buying for a music lover or someone who regularly commutes into work or school. Flagship models can cost between £200 and £300, but you don't need to spend that much to get good sound or premium features.

Our experts chose Sony's over-ear WH-CH720N headphones and in-ear Anker SoundCore Liberty 4NC. They're both typically sold for under £100 and have features similar to flagship headphones; both are wireless and have noise cancelling.

The Sony WH-CH720Ns are over-ear wireless headphones. They'll work with both Apple and Android devices, have buttons to control volume and music, plus you can have a wired connection if wanted (or needed).

The Liberty 4NCs are truly wireless earbuds that will work with both Apple and Android phones. They've got touch controls and charge in a small case. Your recipient can even get replacement parts like ear tips, charging cases or replacement earbuds if they lose something.

But how good are they? Read our Samsung WH-CH720N review and our Anker SoundCore Liberty 4NC review. You can compare prices on both below:

Laptop docking station

Dell laptop docking station

I got a dedicated docking station and a KVM switch at home to integrate my work laptop and personal computer into the same setup. I can easily plug my laptop in to use more ports with the docking station, and can use all my peripherals between two computers seamlessly with the push of a button using the KVM switch. It seems like a weird gift, but they've been the most handy bits of kit I've gotten in the last year.

Lars StannardWhich? writer

We like Makes using multiple monitors with a laptop easy

Watch out for A bit finicky to initially set up

On the surface, it seems like quite a boring gift. However, these unassuming black boxes are extraordinarily handy. They allow you to use two or more monitors and connect loads of peripherals to a laptop without completely tanking its performance. They have more power than a dongle and are great at getting rid of cable clutter on desks. Some models can even charge laptops, too.

You can buy docking stations like the Dell D3100 or the D1000 (which is what we use in the Which? offices) refurbished, which can save you some money. The difference between the two is that the D3100 can be used with up to three monitors, and the D1000 up to two.

Compare prices on a Dell D3100 below. You can also find a variety available through Amazon, Currys or Laptops Direct

Another gift you could consider is a KVM switch. It's essentially a box that you can hook two computers into to share monitors and peripherals like a webcam, keyboard and mouse. With the push of a button, the displays change input from one computer to the other.

It's an incredibly handy gift that's great if your recipient uses their monitors to work from home, but doesn't want to be constantly plugging and unplugging cords in order to use them with a personal computer.

We're fans of the CMSTEDCD VP-SW222 switch: it can handle two monitors outputting 4K resolution at up to 144Hz or 8K at 60Hz using HDMI 2.1. It might be a bit over-specced for some, but it's handy if you're buying a gift for a PC gamer who also works from home.

Ikea HEKTAR lamp with wireless charging

Ikea HEKTAR wireless charging lamp

I have a lot of tech devices I love, but what follows are countless charging wires littered around my home that aren't so sleek to look at. A wireless charging lamp means I don’t need a charging wire for my smartphone and, unsurprisingly, I’ve never found myself losing my lamp like I have a wire.

Amy AxworthyWhich? senior writer and researcher

We like USB hub and wireless charger integrated

Watch out for Lightbulbs sold separately

If your recipient hates cables draped everywhere, this stylish lamp can be a great gift to spruce up their bedside table or desk. Plus, it can charge up to two compatible devices at the same time – one wirelessly and one via the USB-A port. The lamp is quite large and it can be posed on a few joints.

While it has wireless charging integrated in the base, it's not very speedy as it only outputs 5W.

You can pick this lamp up from Ikea for £65; you'll also need a E14 LED bulb. Ikea's TRÅDFRI / STYRBAR starter kit for £20 includes a bulb and dimmer – just screw in the lightbulb and it should work.

A year of Spotify or Disney+

Spotify and Disney+ gift cards

A Premium Spotify membership makes a great gift for any music or podcast lover. You can get 12 months of an Individual membership via a digital gift card for £99 – a saving of £32.88 compared to the monthly subscription.

Natalie TurnerWhich? writer

We like Lots of options for music, films, audiobooks, TV shows and more

Watch out for Maybe too many options

If you're buying a gift for someone who adores music, loves audiobooks, exploring new bands and genres, or is trying to craft the perfect playlists – this is a fantastic choice. Especially if you pair it with a set of our best headphones.

Otherwise, if they prefer watching films, is a big Marvel or Star Wars fan, or just loves the Disney Princesses, a subscription to Disney+ also makes a great gift. Choose an annual subscription and get two months for free.

You can pick up subscriptions through Disney+Spotify, or you can send a Spotify Premium gift card through Amazon for £99.

Keychron K10 wireless mechanical keyboard

Keychron k10 mechanical keyboard and keys

If your recipient types a lot, navigates several spreadsheets, works from home or is a gamer – this is a great gift to give to upgrade from the plasticky keyboards everyone seems to be typing on. Personally, I like using the 'brown' keyswitches, as they provide a nice tactile feel that aren't too loud to type on.

Lars StannardWhich? writer

We like Lots of options to customise

Watch out for Make sure you get the correct keyboard layout: you'll want UK ISO

Giving someone a mechanical keyboard will give them a big step up: they tend to be more durable than your typical stock membrane keyboards, and some people claim that they can help them type faster. It's a great gift for those who type a lot, and there's a lot of customisation to be had if they're looking for a certain typing feel.

We liked this keyboard from Keychron because your recipient can swap out the keyswitches to decrease (or increase) typing noise and clickiness, swap out the key caps, use it wirelessly, and connect it to up to three different devices. You can pick between 'brown' or 'red' keyswitches, which adjusts the feel of typing on the keyboard.

An addition to this gift is to pick up a wrist rest, too, as mechanical keyboards tend to be raised higher than typical models.

You can pick up this keyboard below:

Samsung Galaxy A15 5G smartphone

Samsung Galaxy A15 smartphone

Gifting an entry-level phone that will perform well can be tricky, but this is one of Samsung’s cheapest and it's not light on specs. Plus, you’re giving a long-term investment with five years of security updates guaranteed from Samsung to keep your recipient’s data secure.

Amy AxworthyWhich? senior writer and researcher

We like Outstanding value

Watch out for No wireless charging

A smartphone for less than £160? We can hardly believe it either. But if you're buying someone their first phone, this is the model our experts recommend.

It makes a great gift for a teen. Plus, if they lose it, it will be a lot less of a hit to the finances than the latest premium model.

What it won't have though are all the fancy bells and whistles as flagship phones – mainly with cameras. But for under £160 its specs are nothing to scoff at: 128GB storage, a 5,000mAh battery, 5G connectivity and an AMOLED screen make this phone pretty slick for its price.

It also comes with a headphone jack, which is a rare sight on phones these days.

Best tech gifts under £300

A budget-friendly tablet

Lenovo and Apple tablets

Premium tablets are tempting – they’re so easy to use and can cope with incredibly demanding tasks. But there are cheaper alternatives if you want one for the basics (think lots of online browsing, watching the latest drama, or for kids wanting to play their favourite games.) You can still get a product that feels sleek without the high price tag.

Amy AxworthyWhich? senior writer and researcher

We like Some great options available

Watch out for Be sure to read our reviews first

Tablets are a great gift for kids and grandparents, but many can cost well over £500, £600 or even £1,000. But you don't need to spend this much, unless you want to, as our tests have discovered.

You can typically find the Lenovo Tab M11 for less than £200. It doesn't have the most powerful specs, but this Android tablet should handle day-to-day tasks with ease. It also comes with a stylus.

Otherwise, if you think your recipient would prefer an Apple iPad, consider the 10th generation 2022 model. It's among the cheapest Apple tablets available and has an 11-inch screen. It'll put you over the £250 mark, but it's still a great choice.

You can read our Lenovo Tab M11 review or see what we thought of the Apple's 10th generation (2022) iPad. Compare prices on both models below:

A smartwatch

Apple and samsung smartwatches

Smartwatches have exploded in popularity in recent years and these are some of our favourites for a recipient who wants to monitor their activity a bit more seriously. These track health and fitness and some are like having a smartphone on your wrist. Be sure to find out which smartphone your giftee has first, though, as they’re not all compatible with each other.

Amy AxworthyWhich? senior writer and researcher

We like Fitness and activity tracking made much easier

Watch out for Compatibility issues with certain smartphones

If you're buying a gift for a gym rat, cycling nut or just someone interested in their own fitness, a smartwatch is a no-brainer. Our experts recommended three watches for both Apple and Android devices: the 44m Apple Watch SE, Samsung's Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and the Garmin Forerunner.

Apple's 2020 Watch SE foregoes other Apple Watch features like blood oxygen monitoring, but has a significantly cheaper price tag than the Watch Series 9 (£366) and 10 (£386). Plus, you'll still get lots of features found in the other Apple Watches, including Apple Pay, making calls, GPS, and heart and step tracking. Just keep in mind it won't work with Android phones.

If you're looking to gift a watch to Android users, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is a good choice. It's also compliant with MIL-STD-810H certifications, meaning it's designed to withstand harsh conditions like higher altitudes, high and low temperatures, freezing conditions and shock. It's water resistant to a depth of 50 metres for 10 minutes. It's got loads of features – especially for Samsung phone users. It won't work with Apple phones.

If you want to blow the budget, you can also check out the Garmin Forerunner 265 – it's a bit more expensive, but you'll be getting a lot more activity modes and a bigger battery than the Samsung or Apple smartwatches.

You can read our Apple Watch SE (44mm) review, or compare it with our verdicts on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and the Garmin Forerunner 265

HP Smart Tank 7605 printer

HP Smart Tank Printer

Many have a printer kicking around, but not many have got on the tank printer bandwagon yet, making this HP Smart Tank the perfect gift. Tank printers are the dream as they offer exceptionally low ink costs (unlike costly cartridges for traditional printers). This model is reasonably priced upfront, too. It offers the full range of features any tech enthusiast would expect, including double-sided printing, scanning and an auto-document feeder – even fax, if you're a retro tech fan.

Oliver TrebilcockWhich? writer and researcher

We like Very cheap running costs

Watch out for Not the fastest

A printer? Naturally. This inkjet printer makes a great gift to those who write and want to make printouts, who regularly print docs or return labels, people who make zines, students, or parents with kids in school.

It's got refillable tanks, which means no faffing about with expensive cartridges – keeping running costs quite low. Which means you'll save your recipient money over time, too, compared to costly cartridges.

It comes with what HP claims is three years of ink included.

How does it compare with other models? Read our HP Smart Tank 7605 review. Compare prices below:

Best tech gifts over £300

Steam Deck OLED

Steam deck OLED

This was my birthday gift to myself a few years ago, and I love it. It's great to bring on long train or plane journeys and is very easy to use. There are thousands of games that are optimised to play well on it, and you can utilise most of Steam's massive library. The only thing I'd caution against is that demanding games can quickly chew through the battery, but that's nothing a Best Buy power bank can't solve.

Lars StannardWhich? writer

We like PC gaming on the go

Watch out for Cheapest options were phased out

If you're buying a gift for a gamer, a Steam Deck is a fantastic option to consider. It combines many of the pros of gaming on a console and PC into one portable device – you get access to a massive selection of games without spending thousands of pounds on a huge gaming PC.

While it seems like a souped-up Nintendo Switch, Steam Decks are actually considered 'handheld PCs'. It can function like a compact laptop if you so choose, and you can even plug in peripherals like a mouse and keyboard.

There are three models currently available: two are Steam's newer OLED versions with an upgraded screen, bigger battery and larger storage capacities. They start from £479 for a 512GB OLED model. Otherwise, you can pick up one of the older LCD models for £349; you won't get an OLED screen and the battery is smaller, but it's still worth considering.

You can pick up a Steam Deck OLED or LCD direct from Steam - prices start from £349 for the 256GB LCD model.

Anker Nebula Mars 3 Air Portable Projector

Anker nebula mars 3 projector

The Nebula Mars 3 Air takes away a lot of the hassle involved in owning and using a projector. Simply charge it up, connect it to wi-fi, point it at your wall or projector screen and it automatically adjusts the size and focus to suit the conditions. It’s perfect for an instant big screen experience at home or on the go.

Chris BrookesWhich? writer and researcher

We like Auto screen setup was handy

Watch out for Not the brightest

It isn't the cheapest gift, but if you're buying for a film lover who loves to watch a big screen or regularly has guests over to enjoy movies or sporting events, this is a great option to consider.

Your recipient will be able to adjust the projection size between 30 and 200 inches, and it displays in 1,080p. If they want to take it on a trip with them, it's small, the carry handle makes it easy to move around, and it can also operate off a battery.

Dell Inspiron 16 5645

Dell Inspiron 16 5645 laptop

This 16-inch Dell is a superb package for the price. It offers a generous 16GB Ram to keep up with lots of programs or browser tabs running at the same time, quick AMD Ryzen 7 processor and good selection of ports, including a SD card slot. Gamers or graphic designer will want to spend more, but for tech enthusiasts this laptop is a superb all-round model that gives you a lot for your money.

Oliver TrebilcockWhich? writer and researcher

We like Lots of ports

Watch out for Slow to charge

If you're looking for a laptop to gift, consider this good choice. For the price, it's got some amazing specs: a AMD Ryzen 7 Processor and 16GB Ram, so it should handle most everyday tasks with ease.

It's not the lightest laptop we've tested, weighing in at just under 2kg. It's best suited for those who need a beefy PC but primarily stays at home.
