This fridge freezer offers a practical solution for grocery storage, accommodating up to 10 bags of shopping. It's a basic model and does not include premium features such as fast-freeze and super-cool modes, or door-open alarms.

The unit features a fridge compartment at the top and a four-section freezer below. A cool water dispenser is built into the front door. Since it's supplied by an internal tank, no plumbing into the mains water supply is required.

To suit any kitchen layout, the doors are reversible. Identical models are also available in stainless steel (MC55251DES) and black (MC55251DEB).

It features a fast-freeze function to rapidly chill new items in the freezer. Convenience features include an open-door alarm for the fridge, though one is not provided for the freezer. This model does not include a super-cool function for the fridge or a high-temperature alarm.

We're delighted to see that this fridge freezer – one of the most popular we've tested – has shed a few pounds. It’s small in capacity, compared with a freestanding model, with space for nine shopping bags of food, but the freezer can be converted to a chiller if you need a bit more space for fresh food. 

There are four shelves, three door racks and a full-width crisper drawer in the fridge, plus three drawers in the freezer below. The fridge has a super-cool function, while the freezer has fast-freeze.

The fridge has four shelves, two drawers and a mix of full-width and half-width door racks. The freezer below has four drawers.

With separate controls for the fridge and freezer compartments, you can set and adjust the temperatures to match your specific preferences. Fast-freeze and super-cool functions help bring food down to the correct temperature fast. An alarm alerts you if you leave the fridge open, but unfortunately nothing will warn you if you do the same with the freezer.

This is an integrated fridge freezer with a 70/30 split between the fridge and freezer. The doors are reversible, and it’s designed for installation in a sliding door system, where the cabinet door attaches to rails instead of directly to the appliance.

This is a smart appliance. It can be controlled using the Haier hOn app on iOS and Android devices.

It has three shelves, two drawers and door racks, plus a bottle shelf in the fridge and three more drawers in the freezer. The controls and display are positioned in the middle of the drawers, which Haier says is ergonomic and practical.

This model is designed to sit behind a panel or door. The doors can be reversed to help it fit into your floorplan, and there’s also an option to have sliding doors, should you prefer. Including the freezer, we were able to fit nine carrier bags of food inside. 

Many of the fridge shelves and door racks are adjustable to suit the size of the food you’re storing. It also has a dedicated sealed drawer where you can adjust the humidity, which AEG claims manages excess condensation and helps protect food from spoiling. There are door alarms on both the fridge and freezer to alert you if you leave one open.

Integrated fridge freezers are all about creating a coherent look in your kitchen, so there are sometimes compromises to be had on capacity. This AEG will take around nine bags of shopping, which is smaller than many freestanding models.  

The fridge has five shelves plus two fruit and veg drawers. It has a super-cool function for when you’re loading in lots of fresh food. The freezer has three drawers and a fast-freeze function. It also has frost-free technology, so you should never need to defrost it. 

Two nice features that make it more flexible are that there’s a compartment that can be either a fridge or freezer, depending on where you need the space. The doors can be hinged on the opposite side if this suits your kitchen layout better.

The fridge section contains three shelves (one is adjustable) and two dedicated crisper compartments for fresh produce. The bottom freezer section has six drawers.

The Hisense RQ5P470SYID is a large freestanding American-style fridge freezer with a stainless steel finish. It comes with a large capacity, as you might expect from this kind of fridge freezer and it can also connect to your home wi-fi network, enabling you to control it using the ConnectLife app from your portable device (Android or iOS).

It has both fast-freeze and super-cool features, both of which can be handy for dealing with large batches of food. There are also open-door alarms on both the fridge and freezer sections, plus a child lock on the external digital control panel to prevent inquisitive fingers adjusting the settings.

How to spot a good deal on a fridge freezer

Beko fridge freezer deals

Beko’s range of lower-priced fridge freezers is widely available on the high street and online from stockists, including AO.com, Currys and John Lewis. You can’t buy direct from the brand's own website currently, but if you buy a Beko model elsewhere and register your purchase on the Beko website within 90 days, you can extend the standard one-year guarantee to two years.
