Update: Mobile network TPO officially enters administration

UPDATE: TPO Mobile has announced that it has officially entered administration and will cease trading from Tuesday 26 February. After that date, customers will no longer be able to use data, make calls or send texts.
Customers should all be notified via letter or email, and have been asked to get a PAC code from TPO and switch before next Tuesday's deadline. Anyone with issues is being told to visit WebChat for support on TPO's website.

23 January 2019: Since its November 2012 launch, The People's Operator (TPO) has carved out a niche for itself in the crowded mobile phone provider market by giving 10% of customer spend on plans to a charity of their choice.
However, accusations of poor customer service and falling share prices have put the fledgling network in a tough position, with the closure of operations a real possibility.

What are your rights if you're a TPO customer?
Negotiations are said to be ongoing with rival networks but one deal has already fallen through and TPO has made it clear there is no guarantee current talks will result in something positive for TPO customers.
What's more, any rival network that agrees to take on TPO's customers does not have to give them the same deal and price that they currently enjoy, meaning that they could end up paying more or be placed on a different plan entirely.
In such a case, customers would have 30 days to switch to another provider penalty-free or accept the new provider's terms.
If a buyer cannot be found, it is likely that the industry regulator Ofcom would step in and would help ensure that the interests of TPO customers were protected.
