Food recall: Products from Co-op and Lidl recalled due to possible presence of plastic or glass
Certain batches of Co-op's British 12 Beef Meatballs, Irresistible Carrot Cake and Irresistible Coffee & Walnut Cake, and Lidl's Crownfield Wholegrain Wheat Bixies have been recalled.
Alerts issued via the FSA (Food Standards Agency) warn of plastic or glass in the products, making them unsafe to eat.

Three Co-op foods are being recalled.
Co-op British 12 Beef Meatballs
- Issue: may contain pieces of plastic
- Use by date: 05 March 2021
- Pack size: 350g
Co-op Irresistible Carrot Cake and Coffee & Walnut Cake
- Issue: may contain pieces of glass
- Use by date: 14 March 2021 (Irresistible Carrot Cake), 21 March 2021 (Irresistible Coffee & Walnut Cake)
What to do if you've bought these Co-op products
Co-op advises not to eat the product. You can return it to your nearest store for a full refund.

Crownfield Wholegrain Wheat Bixies
- Issue: may contain pieces of plastic
- Use by date: 10 January 2022, 11 January 2022, and 12 January 2022

What to do if you've bought this Lidl product
Do not eat the product. You can return it to a Lidl store for a full refund, with or without the receipt.
If you can't get to your nearest store, Lidl advises emailing customer.services@lidl.co.uk with a photo of your product and its best before date for your refund to be processed. For any queries, contact Customer Services on 0370 444 1234.
What are my rights if there's a food recall?
If you've bought a product that's ben recalled, you have the right to a refund thanks to the Consumer Rights Act.
The retailer that sold it should offer you a full refund, even if it's been in your store-cupboard or freezer for several months.
If you've already consumed or thrown away the product, you can still get a refund as long as you're able to show proof of purchase such as a till receipt, bank statement, or online order confirmation.
