Food recall: Heinz By Nature baby food jars for 7+ months, as metal found in jar

Heinz and Tesco have issued a recall after one jar was found to have been tampered with

All jars of 7+ Months Heinz By Nature baby food range sold at Tesco are voluntarily being recalled after a single jar had been tampered with and two sharp metal fragments were found inside.

This recall only affects jars that were sold in Tesco in the 7+ Month range. The same product and same batch codes bought from other stores are not affected.

Products in other packaging, such as pouches, are also not affected.

Which Heinz By Nature baby food jars sold at Tesco are being recalled?

  • Heinz Cottage Pie
  • Heinz Mango Chicken Curry
  • Heinz Sweet and Sour Chicken
  • Heinz Spaghetti Bolognese
  • Heinz Sunday Chicken Dinner
  • Heinz Pasta Bake with Tuna
  • Heinz Winter Veggies and Lamb

All 200g jars of 7+ Months Heinz By Nature baby food bought at Tesco, regardless of batch code and best before date, are affected.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) says: 'The possible presence of sharp metal fragments makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a safety risk.'

What should you do if you bought one of these jars?

If you have bought any of these products, don't feed it to your baby - it's not worth the risk.

The FSA advises you take it back to the Tesco store you bought it from and you will receive a full refund. If you bought it online, contact Tesco customer services.

Tesco and Heinz have apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused, and an investigation has been launched.
