Best Black Friday holiday deals 2024

Our price tracking found most of last year's Black Friday holiday and flight deals were genuine

On Black Friday in 2023, we recorded the prices of 140 holidays and flights in the sale, and found that 73% were cheaper than two weeks after Black Friday or in January. 

The results are encouraging if you are thinking of booking a flight or holiday in this year's Black Friday sales. Some savings were significant, such as a Tui holiday to Tenerife, which was nearly £300 cheaper on Black Friday, and a BA flight from Heathrow to Oslo, which, at £68, was just over half the price in early January.

However, it’s important to remain cautious.

When we conducted price tracking in previous years, we found more than half of the ‘sales’ prices we tracked on Black Friday were cheaper two weeks later when ‘deals’ had ended.

Will Black Friday holiday deals be cheapest?

There's no guarantee that on Black Friday the holiday or flight you're after will be at their cheapest. 

Holiday companies and airlines use dynamic pricing, which means prices rise and fall frequently, according to demand. 

However, in recent years, we have found there are very few last-minute holiday deals available. We collect thousands of package holiday prices each year, which has shown that the cheapest time to book a summer holiday abroad is from late November to January. 

In short, while you can’t be sure that an individual Black Friday holiday or flight deal is the cheapest it will ever be, this sales period is a good time to get a bargain. 

Jet2 Holidays Black Friday Deals

All but one of the Jet2 Holidays deals that we looked at last year were cheaper on Black Friday than on the other dates we checked.

The best deals were about £50 per person cheaper than waiting until later in the year. Seven nights for a couple in Thessaloniki, flying from Stansted, was £89pp cheaper on Black Friday than two weeks later, and £70pp cheaper than the first week of January.

Jet2 Holidays is a Which? Recommended Provider of package holidays, with a customer score of 84%. We also recommend it for all-inclusive holidays, city breaks, solo holidays and family holidays.

This year Jet2 Holidays is offering £100pp off all of its holidays, as long as you sign up to a free account. The cheapest holidays we saw on offer were for last minute departures in December. Cheapest of all was a seven day package holiday in Albufeira (Algarve) for £188pp.

Tui Holidays Black Friday deals

All of the Tui holiday deals were cheaper on Black Friday 2023 than the other dates we checked, except a couple that had sold out. 

Savings were typically between £50 and £100, although there was one standout bargain – a holiday from Belfast to Tenerife that was £278 cheaper on Black Friday than in December. It had sold out by January.

Tui Holidays gets a customer score of 74% for beach and resort packages in our annual survey, which isn’t bad, but it’s a long way short of rivals such as Jet2 Holidays. See how we rate Tui overall.

On the Beach Black Friday holiday deals

Two thirds of On the Beach deals were cheaper on Black Friday 2023 than on the other dates we checked. The next best time to book would have been the beginning of January, while just a couple of deals were cheaper in December. 

Savings weren’t huge for the Black Friday sales; however, an April all-inclusive trip for two from Liverpool to Hurghada was £159 cheaper on Black Friday than two weeks later, and £148 cheaper than the first week in January.

While it is not currently advertising any Black Friday deals, On the Beach does have a sales page, although it’s not clear what the actual deals on prices are.

For Black Friday, it is offering customers a £25 Amazon voucher if you book a package holiday (includes flights and accommodation). It's also limited, so only the first 1,500 customers to book a holiday will get a voucher.

Black Friday flight sales

Most of the flight deals we saw were cheaper on Black Friday – but it wasn’t guaranteed. 

British Airways Black Friday flight sales

Black Friday was the best day to book all of the BA flights we checked. 

EasyJet Black Friday flight sales

Only half of the easyJet flights we looked at were cheapest on Black Friday last year. The others were at their cheapest when we looked again in the first week of January.

Jet2 Black Friday Flight sales

Jet2’s Black Friday flight deals weren’t as good as its holiday deals last year: 50% of them were cheaper on Black Friday, but the rest were cheaper the first week in January.

Customers who sign up for a free account are automatically offered an extra 5% off flights until 1 March 2025.

Ryanair Black Friday flight sales

Around 70% of the Ryanair flights were cheaper on Black Friday. A couple of them were cheaper just two weeks later, while another was also cheaper in January.

This year Ryanair has announced eight days of sales, from 25 November to 2 December, in what it's calling Cyber Week.

Use price alerts to get a deal on Black Friday flights

Flight comparison site Skyscanner told us that its data, tracking thousands of flight prices for France, Spain and US, showed they were between 10% and 19% cheaper on Black Friday last year than in October – the month before.

However, as with holiday bookings, it’s important to remember that airlines use dynamic pricing, and prices can change by the day. 

The best way to ensure you get a good deal is to track prices. Both Skyscanner and Google Flights let you set up price alerts, so you get an email if the cost of flights on your chosen dates goes up or down. Google Flights will also show you the price history of your trip.

Only by having an idea of how much a flight normally costs can you decide whether or not an offer is worthwhile.

Choose the right destination for a holiday deal 

There’s no way to be sure that a holiday has reached its lowest price, but we do know from collecting thousands of package holiday prices that you’re better off booking well in advance.

The end of November is a good time to book your summer holiday. It’s also important to do your research. We found that the Amalfi Coast was unexpectedly cheap last year.

Some of the best Greek islands, those that came out on top in our annual survey, were also cheaper than more popular destinations such as Santorini or Mykonos.
