Where to go in Europe in June 2025
Where is hot in June – and cheap?

Porto, Portugal
June high: 23°C
June is an excellent time to visit Porto – especially if your trip coincides with Festa de São João, which takes place this year on 25 June 2025. But the buzz builds for weeks – visit any historic corner of Porto in June, and you’re likely to see technicolour streamers and bunting, barbecued sardines and singalongs throughout Portugal’s Santos Populares festival season.
Porto was one of the cheapest yet best-rated coastal towns in the Mediterranean, with a score of 88% in our last survey. And with rooms costing an average of £93 per double room per night, it’s a good-value option for budget getaways.
Portugal’s famously fresh seas are also starting to warm up by June. The closest beach, Foz do Douro, is just a 10-minute drive away, or you can go slightly further afield (15-30 minutes) to Praia de Miramar and Praia de Espinho.
With nine glorious hours of sunshine and temperatures reaching 23°C, a dip in those cooler waters might begin to feel inviting after all.

Best destination with least tourists:
Murcia, Spain

June high: 27°C
Tourists in search of vitamin D often find themselves in the Canary Islands, Balearics and the capital of Barcelona in June. But with overtourism protests and tourist taxes on the rise, you might be wondering if it’s worth getting more creative for Spanish holidays.
If so, Murcia, Spain is the least-visited part of Spain’s balmy Mediterranean coast, with just 486 overnight stays per square km, compared with 5,501 in Alicante, just next door.
It’s southerly enough to be warm in June, and the area has not one but two stunning, sunny cities. There's Murcia itself, along with the fascinating Cartagena, which is packed with Roman ruins and baroque architecture – not to mention wild and spacious beaches where you can enjoy 10 hours of sunshine a day.

Other top European destinations for June
Bled, Slovenia

June high: 19°C
With pleasant highs that rarely breach 20°C, Slovenia offers milder climes for a European June holiday.
Slovenia is diverse in its offerings – from the watercolour beauty of Lake Bled, with its 15th-century church and castle atop a cliff, to the glacial wilderness of the U-shaped Lake Bohinj, just 40 minutes’ drive away.
The historic capital of Ljubljana is an underrated city with a thriving arts scene, plenty of food markets and restaurants, innovative architecture and a bounty of photo opportunities.
The absence of humidity means Slovenia is perfect for hiking, e-biking, rowing and higher-octane activities such as abseiling, white-water rafting and even gazing down at mountains and valleys from a hot air balloon.
Better yet, days are at their longest in June, with the sun setting as late as 9pm – leaving plenty of time for a glass of Slovenian natural wine at sunset.
Slovenia is also one of the Which? Travel team's favourite destinations. Find out why – and the other destinations we’ll be visiting this summer.

Copenhagen, Denmark

June high: 20°C
There’s one iconic image of the Danish capital: the 17th-century waterfront of Nyhavn lined with brightly coloured gabled townhouses.
A former haunt for sailors and writers – including Danish fairytale author Hans Christian Andersen – it’s now the perfect spot to people watch with an ice-cold beer in hand.
Other highlights include the Tivoli Gardens – the world’s second-oldest amusement park – and the bronze Little Mermaid statue, which sits in the water at Langelinie Pier.
The sun barely sets in June and the hardy may even consider a dip in one of the harbour pools - a popular spot for urban swimming.

Best UK holiday destination in June: Edinburgh

June high: 17°C
There are few settings this magnificent: a medieval castle perched on a hunk of volcanic rock, mirrored by nearby Arthur’s seat. Below, narrow cobbled alleyways packed with Georgian terraces slope towards the sea.
The nightlife is lively and the dining world-class – Edinburgh was named one of the best UK cities for food and drink in our survey. Make sure to visit the city’s creative port district, Leith, with its fine dining, seafood bistros and quirky gastropubs.
Outdoorsy types rejoice: thanks to its northern latitude, the city gets a whopping 18 hours of daylight in June.
Best long-haul holiday destinations in June
Singapore

June high: 31°C
Visiting Singapore in shoulder season – from May to July – means you’re likely to find lower prices and thinning crowds. You’re past the peak heat of May and, while tropical showers are possible, only February is drier. Most June showers are brief and refreshing.
Singapore was highly rated in our survey of the best world destinations in 2025, scoring 85% overall. Which? members rated it five stars for food and drink, which is no wonder, considering its famous for hawker centres (open-air food complexes with a vast array of food stalls – sometimes hundreds).
The city also earned four stars for shopping, and if that’s your thing, The Great Singapore Sale runs throughout June and July, bringing bargains to malls and markets in the city.
With five stars for ease of getting around and four stars for cultural sights and attractions, it’s no wonder Singapore is rated so highly. The only real downside, according to our members, is the crowds – all the more reason to visit during the quieter shoulder season and enjoy the city at your own pace.
UV levels are high year-round in Singapore, so remember to pack decent sun cream, a sun hat and sunglasses.

Zanzibar, Tanzania

This Indian Ocean archipelago off the coast of east Africa is much more than just a post-safari relaxation spot.
Here the wildlife is underwater, with beautiful coral reefs for snorkelling and scuba diving. The undeveloped beaches are also palm-fringed, powder-white perfection.
Known as Tanzania’s Spice Islands, Zanzibar was an important stop on the trade route from Arabia to Africa. Visit its famous spice markets to breathe in the aromas of nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and black pepper.
Or tour the beautiful plantations to see how they're grown – sampling jackfruit, mango and lychees along the way.
Monsoon season ends in May, leaving balmy temperatures and uninterrupted blue skies in its wake.
